How many people suffer in silence because they have learned (incorrectly) that asking for help is a sign of weakness?
Dealing with illnesses of the mind, including mental illness and addiction (including food addiction and eating patterns), are tricky. When someone is sitting in a wheel chair, asking for help opening a door seems obvious. What if your “wheelchair” is invisible? What if your problems are dealing with life’s problems and not opening physical doors?
I used to turn a lot of my problems internal and start a barrage of negative self talk. I still see myself sitting there muttering under my breath, “you are such an idiot.”
I used to get angry at myself when I chose to eat when I shouldn’t. Was that anger productive? Gratitude helped change my entire perspective on life. I started to realize that I didn’t have to wait to be grateful when my goals were accomplished (or weight lost).
I was able to celebrate the little wins everyday which helped me truly achieve my goal. I started to focus on when I ate properly or slept well.
Asking for help also put me in a position to succeed. I used to be shy about telling people what my needs were. I left them up to chance hoping they would be met.
I have learned that in the moments when I ask for help I am always surprised by what happens next.
So, today I am walking my own talk and stepping into my own strength and asking for YOUR help.
I have a vision and I now have an opportunity to truly embody that vision.
I have the opportunity to create my own space. My own studio for my Tribe of Goddesses. The perfect dojo for Warrior Goddess Kettlebell Training.
And in order to make this happen I need your help.
So how can you help me I hear you ask? There are two ways to get involved and many different levels of each way. But I really can’t do this without you so let’s be strong together.
- Invest, Donate or Fund:
I am looking for some financial backing for this project.
I just need some help.
I am looking to raise £3,000 in funds to create this space in the way that I know it should be for the community to enjoy it.
The money will be invested in:
– yoga mats
– meditation cushions
– a seating area for long discussions over tea (and buying the tea!)
– kick ass fun kit like punch bags and tyre to hit with a sledgehammer and battle ropes
– flooring, paint and general fixtures and fittings
– to ensure the floor, walls and windows are safe and secure
– an appropriate launch event- a gathering of women- for my community to come and enjoy the space for their first visit free and with some treats and give back to them and you!
The studio is to be open on 1st June.
It currently looks like this (eek!).
I want it to look like this…. (the long things are yoga mats!)
I hope to raise the money in April and May 2017.
I’ve never been married so I never asked for expensive wedding presents and I have no credit cards to use.
With no immediate family, my community has become my family and with this money I can truly give back using my skills to fulfil my life’s purpose and create a full time living for my family.
This would mean so much to Josh and I to have this dream come true and live the life of our dreams, helping others.
It might seem like a strange way to set up this business but I want it to be born out of love and community, not fear or stress of set up costs or cutting corners and not achieving the appropriate standards for safety and comfort.
Read the whole proposal here and get involved. Be part of the vision. Part of the Community and part of something bigger than you.
2. Share this with your friends, family, social network and spread the word
Help me to spread the word about my project and how people can get involved.
Share my link on your social media, tell your friends.
If you are posting, try thing “I want to help my friend to create something special. A true community space just for women to help them to grow, develop and be the best versions of themselves. My friend needs your help and she is more than grateful for anything that you can do to help to create this vision for us all.”
And I know that by asking you for this help that you are considered one of my trusted community and I am already grateful to have you as part of my life. And I just want you to be their for the next stage of the journey! Come walk this new path with me!
Love and blessings,
