One of my New Year goals (don’t like the word resolution, sounds too serious and not fun at all) for 2012 is to get my own health back on track after a wonderful but slightly indulgent Festive Season.
I wanted to do Candida cleanse and detox with the main goal of feeling really good, energised and looking fit and toned.
In order to prepare myself for this task I wanted to really give myself the best tools with regards to motivation to ensure I achieve my goal.
For me, being able to envision both a negative image that I want to move away from as well as a positive vision of what I am trying to achieve, helps me to push through when times get tough (because they will!)
My away from motivations are that some mornings I wake up with great pains in my back and joints which I think it due to Candida. This flairs up for me when I have not been kind to my body by eating too much sugar and drinking alcohol.
Candida is officially called Candida Albicans and is an opportunistic fungus (or form of yeast) that is the cause of many undesirable symptoms ranging from fatigue and weight gain, to joint pain and stomach upset. As it spreads it produces toxic by-products that cause damage to your body tissues and organs, wreaking havoc on your immune system. The major waste product of yeast cell activity is Acetaldehyde, a poisonous toxin that promotes free radical activity in the body. Acetaldehyde is also converted by the liver into ethanol (drinking alcohol). My second away from motivation is that I come from a genetically unhealthy family, with cancer, hear and liver disease being prominent and I want to do everything in my power to ensure I am here for the long run and see my little boy grow up, get married and have lots of energy to play with my grandchildren.
My toward motivations are to look good for a new pilot program I am running for the Fit for Business program- where I want to look the part and be the model of my model- be a healthy role model. I want to have more energy and motivation. Basically like every woman, I want to look good in all the photos and videos we will be taking that day!
I will also be able to provide some great content for my site as well as inform you of what happens through every stage for those of you out there who might want to engage in detoxing processes yourself.
The Candida Diet is really very simple:
Stage One: Complete a cleanse to flush toxins out of your system.
Stage Two: Start a strict anti-Candida diet, and begin courses of probiotics and antifungals supplements.
Stage Three: Start to reintroduce foods once your Candida overgrowth has gone.
How I intend to do it:
Stage one is a 7 day detox cleanse of the colon including a colonic irrigation session.
Stage two is a 30 day strict no Yeast diet including new foods and living without some favourites and bad habits!
Stage three is getting to a point where I believe I am Candida free and can reintroduce some foods and create a balanced diet and lifestyle.
I want to document my progress through this site, in terms of how I feel, what I look like, my weight, my skin and all the preparation involved.
I will take photos, post videos and provide a commentary on the process to keep me focused and accountability to reach my goal!
