There are so many celebrities shedding the pounds, showing off their new bodies and launching their new DVDs.
Have you noticed them?
The thing I notice more is the responding backlash from women slating them and trying to put them down saying “they just did it for the money” “they had trainers and chefs to get them that way” or “they had the money and time to do that, I don’t”.
Well, the reason why you see so many of these images at this time of year is because WE are creating the demand for it. With our continued cycle of fad dieting and New Year’s Resolutions, we are keeping in place a diet industry that is jumping on seasonal demand (good business sense) and I myself even up my marketing at this time of year because of this very thing.
This is only part o the problem, the other part is the sheer lack of respect and outright envy haters are showing these women, whom regardless of their own personal and financial situations have overcome great challenges, put in a lot of time and effort and achieved a great thing.
To lose weight, overcome our own mind games, reach and maintain a strong body and flat tummy takes effort and determination, regardless of the amount of money or time you have to dedicate to it. It takes hard work.
I think these women, whose every spoonful of food and every dimple of cellulite is publicly displayed and dissected, should be applauded.
And last but by not means least, STOP comparing yourself to others. We all have our own journeys with weight loss, our bodies, how we view ourselves and our own self respect. Self respect does not come from putting down others but by doing the things we ourselves respect. Following through on what we say we are going to do and making ourselves proud.
We are all different. We have different bodies, different shapes, different goals and different journeys. One size does not fit all and one diet does not fit all.
You need to find yourself – a path to rediscovery- so you can see the women in your mind’s eye, in the mirror too.
Finding what works for you, getting to know and love your body, sticking with it- that’s a lifestyle change and that’s when the transformation occurs…
